Donald “Don” Dean McRoy, 79, passed away peacefully at 11:03 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2021, with his family by his side at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Don was born on March 24, 1941, in Bloomfield, Mo., to Harvey and Martha McRoy. He is survived by his wife, Linda Rose McRoy of Rosewood Heights; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Leigh Ann McRoy of Alton; grandson, Drew McRoy of Alton; a stepdaughter and husband, Kurt and Karin Schichtel of Michigan; a stepgrandson, Philip Schichtel of Michigan; a stepdaughter, Lora Whitten of Wisconsin, and her daughter, Madelynn; a stepgrandson and wife, Daniel and Jessica Rosenburg of Wood River; a stepgreat-granddaughter, Annalice Rosenburg of Wood River; a sister, Geraldine Harris, and a brother, Ronald McRoy; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his first wife, Sharon McRoy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Ruby; his sisters, Wilma, Velma, Eileen, Vivian and Virginia; his brothers, Calvin, Alvin “Sonny” and H.M.; and his stepgrandson, Patrick Schichtel.
He was a member of the Heartland Baptist Church of Alton. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
