William David Hutson, 77, of Chapin passed away on Thursday December 24, 2020. He was born on July 14, 1943 the son of Willard and Bernice Hutson. He married Glenna Lou Flynn on November 27, 1966 at Brooklyn United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death after 50 years of marriage.
He is survived by one daughter Gina Koch (husband Pete) of Ellicott City, Maryland: one son Brett Hutson of Chapin; 7 grandchildren Ben and Elena Koch, Kaelyn, Blake, Braden and Gavin Hutson and Faith English; one sister Donna Savage (husband Glenn) of Springfield, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Janet Camerer.
After graduating from Triopia High School in 1961, David attended college majoring in Biochemistry. During the Vietnam War, he served as a medic in the Army earning the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded 2 Air Medals and a Bronze Star for Heroism in Combat.
David was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a farmer his entire life. He loved the land and animals. He enjoyed the years of showing sheep with his family at county and state fairs. He was also fond of fishing and boating with family and friends. He had great sense of humor. Although he faced many adversities, he was quite resilient. He was very caring and helped people when they needed it most.
A service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Chapin Area Rescue Squad or the Amvets. Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge or the arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
