Robert “Bob” L. Cockerill, 80, of Winchester passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield. He was born, Sept. 14, 1940, the son of James “Lefty” and Mildred Hester Cockerill.

Surviving is his wife, Sharon Easley Cockerill. They would have been married 49 years in March. Also surviving are his 4 daughters; Carla (Donnie) Williams of Glendale, AZ, Trudy Leefers of Jacksonville, Lesia (Joe) Duggan of Buckeye, AZ, and Roberta Roberts of Alsey; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; 1 sister, Donna Cockerill and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Melora McVay and Tina McVay; grandson, Derrick Roberts and brother, James Cockerill.

Bob was a US Navy veteran and served active duty for 21 years. He served 3 tours during the Vietnam War. Bob was employed by the State of Illinois as a plumbing inspector and was also a licensed plumber. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved to travel with his wife. Bob will be greatly missed.

At his request, cremation rights have been accorded. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at the Daws Family Funeral Home in Winchester with interment in the Winchester City Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Disabled American Veterans
