Merle Darell Doyle, 88, of Jacksonville died Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. He was born November 15, 1932 the son of the late Orville and Gilda Lozier Doyle. He married Carol E. Tribble on February 26, 1954 and she preceded him in death on December 8, 2016.
Surviving are two sons, Rick Doyle of Jacksonville, and Randy Doyle of Winchester; three grandchildren, Ashley (Brad Miller) Doyle, Tommi Jo (Tom) Schlueter, and Curtis DeVore; three great grandchildren, Denton Miller, Jordan and Ava Schlueter. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Dale, and Glenn Doyle.
Merle was a member of the Walkerville Baptist Church. An Army and Airforce Veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired after being a truckdriver for 40 years, driving for Western Commercial for 25 years. He enjoyed collecting antiques, and he loved animals.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2020, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 11am until the time of the service. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic masks and social distancing will be required.
