Thomas “Tom” Gratt Taff Jr., age 88, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 at his home. Tom was born on July 17, 1932 in Granite City, IL, a son of the late Thomas G. Taff Sr. and Grace (Sneeringer) Taff.
Tom was a United States Navy Veteran who proudly served his country. He was owner and operator of P&S Amusement with over 50 years of service as a coin operator and electronics repairman. He retired 23 years ago in 1997. Tom enjoyed sailing at Carlyle Lake and in the Mississippi Sound with his family. Tom was a talented woodworker who enjoyed working with his hands. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. Tom will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by two sons, William and Scott Taff; and by his sisters, Mary McCollum and Carole Allen.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jo Anne Taff of Granite City, IL; loving children, Kim, (Dr. Charles) King Jr. of Granite City, IL and Daniel Taff of Highridge, MO; proud grandfather to Amy, Josh, Emily, Maggie, Chris, Matt, Will, Charlie, Thomas and Zachary; proud great-grandfather to Ahran, Carly, Aiden, Layne, Keeley, Chris Jr., Collette, Ava and Peyton; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, a private visitation and funeral will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL, with Pastor Daren Carsten officiating.
Interment will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to Enjoy Church in Alton, IL.
