Margie Lee Baker, age 81, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Granite Nursing and Rehab in Granite City, IL. Margie was born on August 10, 1939 in St. Louis, MO.
On March 8, 1957, Margie Robinson married Hairel Thomas Baker, the love of her life and Hairel passed away on August 14, 1996. Margie was a loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt and a friend to many. She was a faithful member of South Roxana First Assembly of God in South Roxana, IL. Margie enjoyed going to church to serve the Lord and reading her favorite book of the bible, Isaiah. She also enjoyed going on long drives when the weather was nice. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Margie will be remembered for the loved she shown to her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Roscoe Robinson and Ava Alice (Henderson) Arnold; stepfather, George Arnold; and by her siblings, Pat Chaney, Betty Richardson, Jean Sanders, Gloria Johnson, Peggy Carty and Clifford Robinson.
She is survived by her loving children, Nancy (William) Ellington and Janet Berndt both of Granite City, IL; proud grandmother to William (Roselyn) Ellington, Nancy (Arnold) Huyck and Joshua (Jessica) Berndt; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, a private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
