Jacquelyn “Jackie” E. Brown, age 86 of Granite City, IL passed away on Thursday, January 7th, 2021 at Stearns Nursing & Rehabilitation, in Granite City, IL.  Jackie was born on July 1, 1934, in Corning, AR, a daughter of the late Tom Ward and Laura (Harper) Ward.

On June 6th, 1953, Jackie Ward married Richard “Dick” L. Brown, the love of her life in Corning, AR.  She worked with her sister, Charlene Sparks at the Commonwealth in Granite City.  Jackie was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and a friend to many.  She was also a proud homemaker who loved taking care of her family.  Jackie was a devout Christian and was a member at both the United Methodist Church and Word of Life Tabernacle in Granite City.  Jackie enjoyed old movies, ice cream, music, (Elvis and Neil Diamond), craft making, cooking and shopping.  Her greatest joys were reading her Bible, attending church services, and spending time with her family at home and on annual vacations to Panama City Beach, Florida.  Jackie loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all, she loved and cherished her family.  She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.  

In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her son, Randall T. Brown, sisters Charlene (Tom) Sparks, Tommie Sue Poyner and Carol Kilburn, brother Glen Ward, her twin brother, Jackie Lynn Ward and sister-law-Joyce Albers.

Jackie is survived by and will be missed by her devoted Husband, Dick Brown of Granite City, IL; her loving children, Richard G. Brown and Jayne Pappas, both of Granite City, IL;  grandchildren,  Jennifer Brown, Jessica (Matt) Mercer, Sarah Davis, Benjamin (Sherrie) Davis, Melissa Pappas, great-grandchildren, Anastasia Dooley, Alex Dooley, Gerald Salas, Jillian Ellis, Orion Gregory, Jayden Ellis, Logan Bryant, Zoey Bryant, Brantley Mercer, sister-in-laws Judy Werths, Jeanie Ward & Ann Ward, brother-in-law Carrol Kilburn and many other extended family.

In celebration of Jackie’s life, a private visitation and funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Alzheimer’s Association.
