Frank G. Griffith Jr., age 82, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Care Center at Center Grove in Edwardsville, IL. Frank was born on August 13, 1938 in Granite City, IL, a son of the late Frank G. Griffith Sr., and Charlene E. (Settle) Griffith.
Frank was a United States Army veteran who proudly served his country with honor. On August 15, 1963, Frank married Marilyn F. Wondra, the love of his life in Granite City, IL. Frank retired from National Steel as a sales manager after many years of dedicated service. He was an avid St. Louis Blues Hockey fan and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. Frank also enjoyed golfing and traveling with Marilyn. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. Frank was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and a friend to many. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Griffith; and by a grandson, Matthew DeWeese.
He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-seven years, Marilyn Griffith of Granite City, IL; loving children, Nancy (Tom) Kurilla of Troy, IL, Jennifer Griffith of Granite City, IL, Mary Griffith of Shipman, IL and Brian Griffith of Granite City, IL; dear sisters, Garnet Moran and Teresa Sinclair; proud grandfather to Thomas Kurilla, Justin Kurilla, Andrew Kurilla, Billy Scenzyn, David DeWeese and Kailee Griffith; beloved dog, Katie; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, a private family graveside service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. A memorial service will be held at a late date at Dewey Avenue United Methodist Church in Granite City, IL.
