Alice Mae Lanahan, age 95, of Lake Villa, IL, formerly of Maryville, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at JourneyCare in Barrington, IL. Alice was born on October 8, 1925 in Miller City, IL, a daughter of the late Fred Hamilton Twente and Daisy Marie (Bennett) Twente.

On October 6, 1951 Alice Twente married James Edward Lanahan, the love of her life and James passed away on February 19, 2000. Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and a friend to many. She was a member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, IL. Alice was a proud homemaker who loved sewing and cooking for her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Alice loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by her siblings, Fred Twente, Frank Twente, Eva Twente and Beverly Harper; step-mother, Viola Twente; brother-in-law, Carroll Lanahan; and by her sister-in-law, Theresa Lanahan.

She is survived by her loving children, Jim (Kathleen) Lanahan of Lake Villa, IL and Mary (Lenny) Wood of Wichita, KS; brother-in-law, Gerry Lanahan of Troy, IL; proud grandmother to Alicia (Justin) Flint, Taylor Lanahan, Jacob Lanahan, Jordan Lanahan and James Wood; proud great-grandmother to Everly Hartley, Aria Flint and Carter Flint; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Private visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road, Glen Carbon, IL.

In celebration of her life, mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 200 N. Lange Avenue, Maryville, IL, with Father Rob Johnson officiating.

Alice will be laid to rest next to James at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
