Union Pacific Railroad will temporarily close the Pearl Street crossing next week for maintenance work, Godfrey officials advised motorists Thursday.
Godfrey Public Safety Administrator Chris Sichra is advising motorists to plan for temporary detours next week when Union Pacific Railroad temporarily closes the Pearl Street railroad crossing for a couple of days to conduct repair work.
Closing will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, until 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20. Detoured traffic may be diverted south to cross at Tolle Lane, until being reopened to full traffic Wednesday afternoon.
First responder agencies have been notified of the temporary closure. Residents and motorists should consider alternate routes to navigate the affected area during the shutdown.
