To help provide essential resources to families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Senior Services Plus received $80,000 thanks to contributions from Ameren Illinois employees and Board of Directors.
The donation will help Senior Services Plus continue to focus on providing meals to people in the Alton area. Through the pandemic, thousands of people have been served by the Meals on Wheels program and the School House Grill, which is supported by the organization's organic sustainable garden.
“We are grateful for Ameren Illinois' support as we work to alleviate the impacts of COVID-19,” said Theresa Collins, interim CEO for Senior Services Plus. “We serve thousands of people through our Meals on Wheels program and through our School House Grill. This donation will enable us to continue to provide support to our community with nutritional meals.”
The donation comes from the Ameren Cares "Power of Giving" COVID-19 Relief Fund, which collected approximately $800,000 in donations from Ameren employees and board members throughout the summer to help 10 charities in Illinois and Missouri with relief efforts.
“It’s important that we do everything we can to help our communities, especially those impacted by the pandemic,” said Kim Voypick, electric regional director for Ameren Illinois. “We recognize that many of our customers are facing financial challenges during these difficult times, and our co-workers wanted to personally contribute to the communities we serve.”
