Find all eight bells, then unscramble the letters that are attached to each of them to form a festive word.

Send the correct word to the City of Collinsville Parks and Recreation Facebook Page by January 3 to be entered into a prize drawing!

The winner will be announced and notified on January 4.

Three Little Pigs: An Opera for Kids- On Film!

Join us for guided Eagle and Swan walks around Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary! Visitors will meet at the Audubon Center at Riverlands for a leisurely hike on paved trails to view our overwintering birds. Bring binoculars and wear comfortable clothing and footwear for the outdoors. These guided hikes are a great way to view and learn more about our winter visitors, Bald Eagles and Trumpeter Swans, improve your bird ID skills, immerse in nature, and meet other bird and nature enthusiasts! Discover, learn and have fun with us!

Discover the wonderful world of owls with this nighttime program co-hosted by the Audubon Center at Riverlands and the World Bird Sanctuary. Visitors will enjoy a live bird show and Q & A with several of Missouri's native owls, as well as an outdoor hike focused on nocturnal adaptations where we will try to call in an owl in the wild. The live bird show portion of the show will be held inside the Audubon Center at Riverlands with small groups. Visitors should dress appropriately for the weather, including wearing closed-toed shoes or hiking boots. The walk is relatively flat, mostly unpaved with some areas of uneven ground.

Come out to Pere Marquette Lodge where you can not only learn about our nation’s most majestic symbol, the Great Bald Eagle, but you can also meet one up close!

This crowd favorite festival will offer guests the opportunity to shop at our unique vendor booths, grab a bite to eat in our restaurant, taste locally made wines, experience our historic Lodge, and meet some feathered friends!

The main event, our Master’s of the Sky Show presented by The World Bird Sanctuary, will personally introduce guests to magnificent winged creatures like owls, falcons, eagles, and more! Showtimes will be at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm.

In preparation for the 24th annual Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) weekend from February 12th-15th, 2021, learn for the first time or refresh your bird logging skills just a couple days before GBBC kicks off! Tune in and receive training on how to participate in this global citizen science count, how to correctly log birds online, discover what birds are common right now in this region and how you can attract them to your backyard. Show off your new skills from the training during the GBBC as you log the birds you see in your community or in your own backyard!

Bows for Birds Raffle Announcements: We will also be announcing the winners for the Bows for Birds Raffle following this training. We will be drawing Bows for Birds participant’s names for a chance to win numerous bird themed prizes just in time for the GBBC weekend! The 24th annual Great Backyard Bird Count is a citizen science event that anyone is invited to participate in from February 12th-15th. The purpose of this event is to show communities of all ages that they are able to contribute to scientific data collection used by researchers all over the world. These counts help scientists understand the abundance and distribution of bird species across the nation. Community members can create a real-time snapshot of where birds are together just by counting birds in a backyard for a short 15 minutes. Join guests for a beginner stained glass retreat and learn the art of stained glass from an Alton Legend! Artist and owner of Alton Stained Glass Works, Lynne Ulett, will be guiding beginners through glass cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering. Work at your own pace to complete a unique stained glass window or light catcher to take home as a memory of your stay at Pere Marquette Lodge. All supplies and lunch will be provided during your creative retreat!
